Our school​

For almost a decade, KEY (Keep Educating Yourself) academy has been an internationally recognised, 21st-century, project-based school for children aged 18 months to 11 years old, with a proven model that puts the child at the centre of the learning experience. Through our local and global network of co-learners (our term for teachers), subject matter experts, mentors and industry leaders, we have moved beyond rote memorisation to projects that are real, relevant and meaningful, built on strong foundations in literacy and numeracy. They prepare children not only for today's global challenges, but for those of the world they will inherit.

The world desperately needs voracious self-directed learners who see tough problems as solvable puzzles, which they are more than capable of overcoming. The current global model of education was designed almost 150 years ago, and although it catered to the challenges of the industrial revolution, it does not adequately prepare children for a rapidly evolving world. KEY academy is revolutionising the approach to education in Nigeria, equipping the next generation with the 21st century skills they need to change the world.

We have developed a bespoke curriculum which is project based and tailored to our local context in Nigeria, while leveraging the development goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework in England to guide our learning for our preschool aged children, and England’s National Curriculum for children aged 5 years and above.

This helps us ensure that core numeracy and literacy objectives are met, while creating completely bespoke and unique activities and projects that honour our heritage and culture, and help develop 21st century skills.
