Global benchmarking

In 2024, KEY academy partnered with Longworth Education, a highly respected social enterprise based in New Zealand, to independently assess and refine our methodology. Founded by internationally recognised educators Dr. Sarah Aiono and Linda Cheer, Longworth Education has become a global leader in designing and implementing high-impact teaching and learning practices. Their work is grounded in research and has influenced schools and education systems across Australasia, the Pacific, and beyond.

Longworth Education specialises in project-based learning (PBL) and play-based pedagogy, providing professional development, curriculum design, and assessment frameworks that are trusted by schools worldwide. They are known for bridging the gap between innovative teaching methods and measurable student outcomes, making them an ideal partner for KEY academy’s commitment to educational excellence.

As part of the collaboration, Longworth Education applied its internationally benchmarked Project-Based Learning Observation Tool (PBLOT™) to our classrooms. This comprehensive framework evaluates how effectively PBL is implemented, measuring elements such as student engagement, critical thinking, collaboration, and authentic assessment. The results gave us a clear picture of how our approach aligns with global best practices and identified areas for further refinement.

Working with such a well-regarded organisation represents a significant milestone for us. It validates our approach against world-class benchmarks and ensures that our students benefit from the very best in 21st-century learning design right here in Nigeria.
