Our roadmap

KEY academy’s long-term vision is rooted in a three-phase roadmap designed to bring transformative, world-class education to all 36 states of Nigeria. This strategic plan guides our growth from our model school in Lagos to a national movement that redefines how children learn across the length and breadth of the country. 

 

Each phase of our journey is carefully crafted to ensure we maintain a balance of innovation, quality, and scalability, creating a world-class educational model that is global in its outlook while still leveraging ancient local insights and practices:

Phase 1 - We developed and launched our model school in 2019 in order to illustrate exactly what 21st-century, project-based learning looks like in a Nigerian context. We will continue to build out our learning groups each year, as we grow to become a full-service primary and secondary school, offering a world-class education in the heart of Lagos, Nigeria, right up until the age of 18.

Phase 2 - Building on the success and insights from our model school, we have already started expanding into our broader initiatives to democratise access to 21st-century education across Nigeria. In May 2025, we launched ChessMasters, and we are already developing ImpactEducators, our digital platform for nationwide teacher training and accreditation, which will empower educators across Nigeria with cutting-edge insights and best practices in 21st-century, project-based learning. Additionally, we will be creating and publishing locally-relevant books, digital content, and other educational resources. These initiatives are vital for extending our reach, and transforming existing schools, homes, and communities across the country.

Phase 3 - Our ultimate goal is to work with Nigerian policymakers to reshape how primary and secondary education is developed, assessed, and delivered, positively impacting millions of children for generations to come.
